Customers do ask - Why is MCS Important?

We are proud to say that we are MCS Accredited and have been since we started installing solar back in 2012  - in most cases you will need an MCS Certificate to apply for the SEG ( Smart Export Guarantee).  However there has been some confusion with Suppliers suggesting you don't need it -  You can see all the information that you need here direct from MCS - Also giving you information about the bigger picture and that MCS is not only about claiming the SEG (Smart Export Guarantee) when you install a Solar PV system - but is also about the quality of the install and the quality of the products that are being used.

Having peace of mind and knowing you have a regulatory body that has got your back is important and whilst quality products, installation and customer service along with the longevity of our company is up high on our agenda to ensure all our customers receive a great experience with their solar installation - we can't say the same for everyone and thats where MCS comes in

What is the eligibility for SEG (Smart Export Guarantee)

  • Be the owner of the generation unit - ie solar panels
  • Have a system up to 5MW in total
  • Have an export, smart, automatic meter reading (AMR) or other half hourly read capable meter which can record exported energy every half hour
  • Have a Microgeneration  Certificate Scheme (MCS) Flexi-Orb or similar certified installation and be able to provide the certificate
  • Have a confired Distribution Network Operator (DNO) export grid connection
